The main novelty of the 15th Brazilian Film Festival of Miami, held at the Colony Theater, in Miami Beach, between August 19 and 27, was the launch of a new platform that allows selling audiovisual content without intermediaries. It is MediaFundMarket, a digital tool designed to serve as a permanent business platform for content producers and buyers. The purpose is to make it easier for authors to raise funds and offer their finished products to international buyers.

The new portal, defined by its creators as a type of “audiovisual content Facebook”, was developed by Inffinito, the company that created and organizes the Miami festival, as well the Brazilian Film Festivals of London, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Vancouver, Rome, Barcelona and New York, jointly with Brazilian company Canudos. The tool is sponsored by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture and its Department of Audiovisual Content.

The portal will be available as of September and serve as a social network for producers, the public and content buyers. It is divided into two channels: Fund, for funding purposes, and Market, for purchases and sales. The first channel allows individuals and corporations to make donations to previously submitted and approved projects—the minimum amount depends on each project. Donations can be made by credit card, through the PayPal safe payment system.

In turn, the Market channel gives registered users a password that enables access to a databank of content buyers and sellers. The channel works as a codified anti-piracy platform for screening (showing videos to potential buyers only). The channel does not serve as an intermediary in transactions, which can be made independently by both parties.

Feature films, short films, video clips, TV content, screenplays, festivals, exhibitions and audiovisual content promotion and post-production material can be submitted. The idea is to have only Brazilian content until 2013 and content from the whole of Latin America as of 2014.
