So, you want to get back to normal.
Let me tell you one thing about it : there won’t be a “normal” to get back to when we get out of the actual situation. The fact is that Covid-19 created a kind of alternative time line future that not even an X-Men or Avengers movie could suggest. We are irrevocably changed.
It’s clear now that the virus disrupts much more than the surface of cells. It disrupts our business models, relationship ways, social and ethical assumptions and more deeply, our very way of life.
We’re going to get out of this, of course. But this “This” is not really the pandemic. What we’re going to get out of is in fact a period of our history that was already becoming a page being turned when this global event came and mercilessly accelerated turning the page.
I think that from now on the matters of health, solidarity, science, universalism (rather than nationalism), money, creativity will all be blended with a new intensity, depth and meaning and I think we’ll have to forcefully upgrade ourselves as individuals and species. We’ll need us to be the innovation.
I know we all want to return to our lives the way it was just a couple of months ago, but I sense it’s going to feel different and be different even if it will be looking the same as before.
So, when we finally open the door of our houses to freely go back to the world outside again, what is it gonna be? Normal? What normal?
I think we’ll have to come up with a new kind of “normal”.
